Please note:
According to the statues of the City of Cologne, hotels are committed to quote a
surcharge of 5% (Cologne Culture Tax) on their room rates by personal travel.
This will be payed directly to the City of Cologne. The expenses for
accommodation are not liable to tax when accommodation is mandatory for
work-related reasons. This may, among others, be the case when legal
occupation can not be performed and therefor income can not be gained
without the accommodation (work-related mandatory accommodation). This is
only valid if you fill in the original form. You can download it on the homepage of
the City of Cologne. Additionally, employees are in need to bring a signed
confirmation of their employer that the accommodation is mandatory for work.
